24-6274 Using a Sound Wall for Phonemic Awareness and Phonics

This is event is being run in collaboration with West Cork, Cork, Limerick, Kilkenny, Blackrock, Waterford & Wexford Education Support Centres 

This webinar will examine the rationale and research behind Sound Walls and their use in the classroom. 

The phonemes (speech sounds) of English and a demonstration their characteristics will be explored.

The webinar will also showcase ‘Sound it Out!’, a complete Sound Wall resource for the Junior classroom. The author, Deirdre O’Toole will present the five elements of the pack: Sound Wall cards, Spelling cards, Teacher’s Manual, Flipbook, and Practice Book. Participants will receive an evaluation pack of the resource.  

Time will be allocated for Q&A.

Tutor Bio: Deirdre O’Toole is a Primary School Teachers from Co. Meath.  She is passionate about child-led play and early literacy.  Deirdre is currently studying Literacy Education in Mary Immaculate College.  She runs the Instagram page ‘Playful Classroom’.
