Course description

Teaching FMS in PE through Tag Rugby

The aim of this summer course for teachers is to introduce Tag Rugby to teachers' PE classes as a means of helping in acquisition of an appropriate range of movement skills across the PE strands.

Largely practical based, the course will examine

  • Fundamental Movement Skills
  • Fundamental Games Skill
  • Game Specific Skill

  There will be an emphasis on

  • Pedagogical skills
  • Teaching methodologies
  • Class management skill
  • Building on existing knowledge in PE to allow teachers to adapt lessons to pupil's interest or to include children with special education needs. 
  • It will also highlight ways to integrate numeracy, literacy & SPHE programmes in a co-curricular way.


The course will be facilitated by Colm Finnegan and coach development officers and community rugby officers from Munster Rugby

Attendees will receive an ALDI Play Rugby pack for their school worth over €100.

All our summer courses are booked on the condition that the course fee is non-refundable. Course Fees are not transferrable to another teacher. Unfortunately, if you wish to cancel your place on one of our courses or you are unable to attend the course, we are not in a position to refund fees.

In the event that the minimum number of participants required do not apply then the Centre will be obliged to cancel the course and all monies will be refunded in full.
