Lift Off-to-Literacy: Collaborative Reading Recovery Based Literacy Teaching
Lift-off to Literacy is a short term classroom intervention that arose through collaboration in schools with trained Reading Recovery teachers, classroom teachers and LS/R teachers.
Based on Marie Clay's (Reading Recovery) theories of reading and writing this course endeavours to provide a team approach to effective short term teaching of literacy in the classroom.
The course is most suitable for class teachers of junior infants to 1st class, learning support/resource teachers and any other teachers interested in early literacy acquisition. Group planning and coordination will be an integral part of the course so, ideally, this course suits two or three teachers from the school attending as the group who will be involved in the planning and administration of the LOTL.
Facilitator: Daithi Bermingham.
