Tusla - Briefing about the Meitheal practice model of providing supports to families

Course description

Briefing about the Meitheal practice model of providing supports to families

Open to all staff

Tusla has developed the Meitheal approach to help children where they may need the support of more than one service. Meitheal is a case co-ordination process for families with additional needs who require multi-agency intervention but who do not meet the threshold for referral to the Social Work Department under Children First.

The aim of this briefing is:

  • To provide an overview of the Meitheal practice model as a means of working together to achieve better outcomes for children and young people.

By the end of the briefing you will:

  • Have a knowledge of the legislative, policy and guidance framework influencing this model
  • Have a clear understanding of what Meitheal is
  • Have an understanding of when to request a Meitheal and how to request a Meitheal
  • Understand your role in a Meitheal.
