Key to the EU, a teaching and learning programme on active European citizenship from Junior Infants to 6th class

In collaboration with the Cork Education Support Centre, we are delighted to invite you on Wednesday 4 March at 6pm in University College Cork (O’Rahilly building room 2.12) to the launch of Key to the EU, a teaching and learning programme on active European citizenship from Junior Infants to 6th class. Only teachers attending the launch will receive a free teacher pack including all teaching resources. To receive the pack, you must register before 26 February and follow these two steps (1 minute each!):

  1. Register your teaching details here to receive the correct teacher pack: https://forms.gle/2m6kQ16SQSborBhn9
  2. Book your spot here and discover the schedule for the launch: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1980810969933?aff=oddtdtcreator

There could not be a better time to engage children on their voice in the European Union as Ireland will have the Presidency of the Council of the EU from 1 July to 31 December 2026.

Key to the EU is a web-based programme which offers you all the lesson plans, lesson slides, quizzes, games, and resources to engage you class on everyday issues that connect their community to the European level. The website also highlights the numerous curriculum connections that the lessons offer. At the launch, you will receive a full pack of physical resources that you can use in your classroom when implementing Key to the EU.

This programme invites you to inspire young learners to experience European citizenship not as a concept, but as a lived, active practice beginning in primary school. Join us to empower children to understand, participate, and debate Europe’s shared future.

Places are limited. Only teachers attending in person can receive the teacher pack with the resources they registered for in the Google form.

Registration starts at 6pm with a welcome buffet. The event starts at 6.30pm and will run until 7.45pm.
