Join us for a 1 hour 15 minute interactive webinar with experienced GAA referees Colm Lyons and Cathal Ó Murchú, focusing on the rules and guidelines for Sciath na Scol and Cumann na mBunscol hurling competitions.

Bio of Presenters:
Colm Lyons is one of the country's top hurling referees, and he brings a wealth of experience from officiating at the very highest level of the game. In 2022, Colm took charge of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final between Kilkenny and Limerick at Croke Park - the ultimate honour for any referee and a testament to his standing in the game. A Nemo Rangers man, Colm has been officiating major fixtures for years, including the All-Ireland Minor Final in 2012, the National Hurling League Final and Leinster Final in 2017, and All-Ireland Senior Club Finals in 2018 and 2020. When he's not on the pitch, Colm is Principal of Scoil Chrós tSeáin in Crosshaven, where his experience in leadership and communication serves him well both in the classroom and out on the field. Colm's course offers referees at all levels the chance to learn from someone who has been there and done it at the top - with practical insights.
Cathal Ó Murchú is a highly experienced GAA Gaelic football, hurling and Ladies football referee with extensive knowledge of the game’s rules and practical application at all levels. Having officiated at numerous competitions, from grassroots Sciath na Scol to higher levels, Cathal brings a deep understanding of both the letter and spirit of Gaelic football & Ladies Football. His expertise extends to the specific rules governing Sciath na Scol in Cork and Cumann na mBunscol competitions, making him ideally placed to guide teachers, SNA’s and coaches in preparing teams for success. He is the current Referees’ Officer for Sciath na Scol. Furthermore, Cathal is the Secretary of the City Division Referees and an officer of the Cork GAA referee committee. In addition to his refereeing career, Cathal is passionate about fostering safe, fair, and enjoyable play for young athletes. His approach blends technical clarity with practical tips, ensuring participants leave confident in both rule interpretation and player welfare.
