Universal Design for Learning: Practical Strategies for Inclusive Teaching
This one‑hour webinar introduces teachers to Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a practical framework for reducing barriers and supporting all learners to access, participate, and succeed. The session explores simple, effective ways to offer choice, present content in multiple formats, and help students demonstrate their learning. Teachers will leave with realistic, ready‑to‑apply strategies that can be implemented across all subject areas.
Bio of the Presenter: Helena Farrell is the Universal Design Lead with Cork Education and Training Board (CETB), where she provides strategic leadership to embed Universal Design & the implementation of the Altitude Charter across further education, training, and organisational practice. With a prior background in nursing, Helena brings to Universal Design a strong commitment to social justice and a human centred approach.
Helena won the inaugural John Kelly Individual UDL Award from AHEAD in 2019. She is a facilitator of the UDL digital badge with the National Teaching and Learning Forum, AHEAD & UCD. Helena is also the chair of Cork ETB's Universal Design Steering Group. She holds a Master of Science and postgraduate qualifications in special & inclusive education, educational leadership and is currently completing a Master of Education.
