A Message from the Director

Dear Colleagues,

I hope you all enjoyed a well-deserved rest over the Easter break. As we return to our schools and classrooms, I want to take a moment to reflect on the extraordinary work being done by post primary teachers, SNAs, school management teams and school communities across our Cork catchment area.

Cork ESC is committed to advocating for and providing leadership and support to post primary schools at local, regional and national level. In this period of significant curricular and policy reform, the professional demands on teachers and school leaders have never been greater, and our commitment to walking alongside you in that work has never been stronger. Through our programmes and supports, we aim to inspire and equip educators to create inclusive, engaging and future focused learning environments for every student across Cork and beyond.

Seamus Heaney, perhaps our greatest modern Irish voice, wrote that "even if the hopes you started out with are dashed, hope has to be maintained." There is something in that which speaks directly to the experience of teaching — the resilience it demands, the belief it requires, and the quiet courage it takes to show up every day for the young people in your care.

As we move into the final term of the school year, I want to assure you of our continued commitment to providing the highest quality professional learning and support. Our team remains available to your schools, and I encourage principals and teachers alike to reach out to us as you navigate the opportunities and challenges of this important period in Irish education.

Thank you for your dedication, your professionalism and your care for the young people you teach. It is a privilege to support you in that work.

With warm wishes,

Edmond Hussey

Director, Cork Education Support Centre
