Concern - Primary Debating Competition

Concern - Primary Debating Competition

Tuesday 15 November 2016

Cork Education Support Centre is delighted to offer Primary Debating to schools this year.

Research clearly demonstrates that these critical thinking skills are best developed by children through explicit instruction and practice.  Structured debating competitions can be an excellent way of doing this.  In addition, it develops a child’s self-confidence and promotes active listening.

This year, Cork Education Support Centre will run a Local Primary School Concern Debating League.  Participants will compete with other schools on a knock-out basis, culminating with a local winner by March 1st 2017. Local competitions will be held throughout January and February 2017. A full schedule, further guidelines and a handbook will issue when applicant numbers are known.

Please note that ONE team only can be accommodated from each school. This Debating competition is aimed at senior classes (4th to 6th) or for children aged approx. 10-12yrs.

To register, please nominate a contact teacher. We will require the nominated teachers name, school name, school phone number, email address and a mobile phone number for the nominated teacher by email to . The closing date for registration is Friday November 25th  2016.

This is an extremely worthwhile activity and we look forward to being involved in this initiative.
