Cork Education Support Centre, in collaboration with the Special Educational Support Service, intends to provide a one-day seminar, ‘Meeting the Needs of Students with Special Educational Needs through Individualised Planning’ for clusters of school staff (Primary) comprising the Principal and a maximum of two members of the special educational needs team of the school. Individual Education Planning for pupils with special educational needs has been identified as one of the priority areas for professional development and support for teachers.
This one-day seminar will be offered to all primary schools in May/June 2009. Each seminar will last the duration of the standard school day. Substitute cover will be made available to teaching Principals only, (if it is deemed essential), to facilitate their attendance with two of their colleagues from the school’s special educational needs team. SESS have a specialist team of Associates and Advisors in place to facilitate the delivery of these seminars.
