Digital Schools
Background
The Digital Schools Award is a new initiative that aims to recognise excellence in a school’s approach to the integration of ICT in teaching and learning. The Digital Schools Award was launched by Minister Mary Hanafin, T.D., on Friday, 10th February 2006 at Scoil an Chroí Ró Naofa, Tallaght, Dublin 24.
NCTE is leading this initiative in partnership with CESI, IPPN and the INTO.
To achieve a Digital Schools Award, each participating school must fulfill identified criteria which will be applied as part of the validation process. There are thirty-nine criteria in all, fourteen of which are essential. The criteria are organised under the following headings:-
- Leadership & Vision
- ICT in the Curriculum
- School ICT Culture
- Professional Development
