Participants must attend the three evenings Tues 7th,14th &21st November 4-6.30pm

Presenters - Liam Murray and Damien Fallon

Recent research in a number of countries has shown that regular chess practice results in increased scores in literacy and numeracy.

  • If you don’t know how to play chess but want to learn; this course is for you!
  • If you want to teach chess to primary students but not sure how; this course is for you!
  • If you already coach chess in your school but would like to network with other schools to form a friendly chess competition; this course is for you

This course could help you prepare for participation in the Ficheall Bunscoile Chorcaí - a new chess organisation for primary schools in Cork set up by a group of Cork principals and teachers who saw the need for a centralised Chess Tournament that is easy to enter and is accessible to all.  More info in November about Ficheall Bunscoile. This course has been successfully run in Kildare, Dublin, Meath, Laois and Waterford by experienced chess coach Liam Murray.

The course is fun, hands-on with little or no note taking as all resources are provided digitally.

Here’s a testimonial from a previous course participant – “If you are looking for a really fun hands-on course then this is the course for you!”
