Create a personal profile and add content to it
Configure a profile make it safer for children to use
Communicate with other users, add friends, and block others
Discover learning resources and strategies for promoting the safe and responsible use of social networking sites by your students

- Exploring classroom ready activities and resources for teachers responding to the issues of social networking by students.

Target Audience
Primary and Post Primary teachers who wish to learn how to use the Bebo social networking site and who wish to explore classroom activities and strategies to help students be safe and responsible social networkers.

Overview
This 2 hour workshop encourages a hands-on approach where participants will go online and use the Bebo website. Participants will get an overview of how young people use social networking and interactive technologies and ICT Tutors will direct participants throughout the activities to tips and strategies for configuring profiles to minimizing the opportunities for harm. The session will focus on resources for teachers, classroom activities and responses to help children and young people become safer and more responsible users of social networking websites.2 hours

Pre-requisites
Participants are required to have a Web-based email account set up prior to the Workshop. They should be familiar with a modern operating system (Windows, Mac OS, etc) and be comfortable with basic ICT tasks (opening, editing, saving, closing files, etc). Participants should have some experience of browsing the Internet.
