Ordering Process:-
Schools must order via an IT Reseller, of which there are hundreds in Ireland.

Guidelines:-
- The version of the software to order for the vast majority of schools is “Symantec Anti-Virus Corporate Edition of Desktops and Servers”
- If schools have their own Mail Server in house, they may want to purchase the Enterprise edition, schools should seek advice on this from the IT company who administers the computer network in the school.
- When ordering Anti Virus schools should inform the reseller that they wish to avail of ‘Symantec SAV for schools pricing’. This is not just ‘Educational Pricing’. It is significantly cheaper.
- One licence is required for each school computer
- SAV Anti-Virus Pricing (Corporate Edition) per Computer for schools for 1 year is €4.60 ex VAT (or €5.57 inc VAT)* ;
- SAV Anti-Virus Pricing (Corporate Edition per Computer for schools for 2 years is €8.60 ex VAT (or €10.41 inc VAT)* ;
- There is a minimum order of 10 licences for 1 year, or 5 for 2 years.
- Schools must inform the Reseller of the total number of computer licences they require.
- Schools must indicate if they have different types of operating systems in the school (ie If they have Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, ME, 2003,XP computers they have. In the case where a school has older PCs they should inform the reseller that they require the older versions of the SAV software.
- In addition to the Anti-Virus licences, schools will require a Media Kit, ie a CD of the software. The Media Kit and delivery charges are not included in this pricing and may vary per reseller. Resellers will provide this pricing to schools. As a guideline the Media Kit should cost approx €35-40. Only one Media Kit is required per school.
- When ordering Schools need to provide their Roll Number to the reseller to validate the order.
- Different Resellers will have their own ordering process which they can explain to schools.

Installation Guideline:
Schools are advised that Anti-Virus software should be installed by an IT person and not by personnel unfamiliar with installing Anti Virus software.
Note on Older Operating Systems (from Win 95 to Win 2000)
Symantec does support older versions of Windows Operating system back to Windows 95, however as Microsoft themselves no longer support some older operating systems problems could arise on these particular older computers. These problems may relate to the older computer, the older Windows version rather than the Anti-Virus software. The best person to make this judgement is the IT person installing the software.
